If you know me or have ever seen me perform, then you know...when I am really pushing myself... I have the tendency to perspire profusely. I sweat! It's not something that bothers me, although some probably don't think it's all that ladylike. Well the last few days I have been pushing myself in efforts to promote the new release of Skin & Bones. There have been interviews,filming, appearances, a listening party, and countless workouts...Yes, momma is working hard.
I know that at this point in my life, I have to push twice as hard to get half the results simply because of the way things are in society. Music seems disposable and quality is rare. Image is everything and perception tends to trump reality in many instances. That being said, I'm in the game for the long haul realizing that this is a marathon and not a sprint. My goal is to never lose my authenticity and to continue to press for what I believe is a worthy goal.
I am looking forward to the fact that there are a lot of people out there who feel like me.... who want something real. I am counting on the fact that music with heart and soul and true meaning still matters. Yup... I want to change the world one song at a time. But, I cannot do it alone. I need you!!! If you too are still a true believer.... if you remember what it felt like when your favorite artist was coming out with a new album and you wanted to make sure you purchased it...If you remember hanging posters in your room, buying magazines off the rack, saving allowance money for concert tickets, and wearing the T-shirt with their logo to the mall on weekends....I need you to buy Skin & Bones.
Trust me, it's worth it. It will remind you of when MTV still showed videos. It will remind you of when people actually played musical instruments. It will remind you of when everything still seemed so possible.... because guess what, it is!!!! We can make it all happen again together. And for those of you who never did those things.... this music will make you want to, why??? because it's real.
